Story Board

This is our storyboard which helped us during the filming of The following by knowing the order of the scenes we had to film and how they had to be filmed. It also showed us what type of shot we needed to use for example over the shoulder. I was in charge of drawing the story board for the group and so we can put it on our blogs.

Good Points of film

In the final edit of the film there were many good points to the film for example:

  • The Way the Text was placed in the film.

  •  The Fuzz when William walks past slender.

  • The ripple of the puddle and Slender appearing in it.

  • The point of view shot from Slender.

First Edit

This is our first proper edit of The Following.

Even though this was our first edit we decided we could do a lot better so when we went and filmed again we tried to get more forest scenes rather than inside the house. Also we thought we could do more in the next filming to target our audience and make it more of a horror for teenagers.

Development of title

Over time our Title of The Following has changed dramatically and with great detail.

This is the first Ever Following logo made. We tried to base this around the original slender 8 pages game title.

This was the Second Developed logo for our film. The man as the L in Following was inspired from a lot of Saul Basses work.

This is our final Title which is used in our final edit of the film and as you can see has come a long way from the first edit.

Mise-en-scene

My Job

My job in the making of the following was to play the part of William. Also during the making of the film i gave many suggestions to how we should act out in each scene.

Some scenes were quite difficult to act out as the lighting and slippery surfaces in the wooded area.

I also gave some ideas to the first edit of the film and where to cut some of the scenes.

Finally I took charge of doing the story board for the group to put on their bloggs.

Plot

Plot outline/summary

Slender Man

The Slender Man is a creature or being with various nebulously defined characteristics and abilities. Slender Man was first mentioned in Something Awful Forum's "Create Paranormal Images". Slender Man generally appears as a tall man in a black or grey suit, red or black tie, and white shirt, with no eyes, mouth, or clearly defined facial features. It has no hair, and generally has normal-looking bare hands. Slenderman typically is depicted in imagery and literature as between 6 and 15 feet tall, depending on the situation, and in video as around 6-7 feet tall. Because of its inexact nature, and differences between series, no one has yet determined what it is.Currently, the two leading theories as to what the Slenderman may be are The Tupla Effect and Quantum Theory. The internet popularity of Slender Man has spawned a massive amount of interconnected ARGs, collectively known as the Slender Man Mythos.

Working title

Title (or working title)

The title we thought was the most appropriate out of the selection we had, which were Faceless, The Following, In the shadows. The one we chose was The Following as it fits with the opening sequence

Log line

Our opening sequence is a horror thriller about a teenage boy and a Faceless follower.

Characters and costume

Characters (consider gender, role, image, etc)

Teenage boy: We thought to use a teenage boy (Played by Me) because younger people are vulnerable and he is isolated which gives him a massive risk factor. This could help to portray the fear he has.

Slender Man (The Following) (Played by Sam Sturgiss) We are using Slender in our plot as he is a fear to most ages and the myths about him fit perfectly to the plot of our opening sequence.

Characters

  • Slender Man ( Played by Sam Sturgiss )
  • Teenage boy named William ( Played by Me: Harry prior )

Costumes

Casual for boy, and suit for Slender Man.
