Evaluation Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Now we have finished the final edit of the film I think we have all learned a great deal about film making and editing and have learned many terms about the process. I have learned the meanings of many different terms for example:
  • Shot reverse shot- going back and fore between to things or people for example in a conversation
  • Cinematography- Camera work
  • Mise-en-scene- Everything in the shot
  • Sound- non-diegetic and diegetic
  • Editing- Fast and slow cuts
  • Match on action- one shot cuts to another shot portraying an action of the subject in the first shot
All these terms are vitally important when creating and making a film.

In the first edit of our film we found we used not enough editing techniques and tried using too many different camera shots and did not take into account that the use of editing can be a lot more effective than trying to get everything we want just from one shot
